Changing bandwidth measurement units for traffic shapers
Bandwidth speeds are measured in kilobits per second (Kbps), and bytes that are sent and received are measured in megabytes (MB). In some cases, this can cause confusion, depending on whether your ISP uses kilobits per second (Kbps), kilobytes per second (KBps), megabits per second (Mbps), or gigabits per second (Gbps). You can change the unit of measurement that a traffic shaper uses.
You configure bandwidth measurement units for traffic shapers in the FortiGate CLI. After you configure the bandwidth measurement unit, the FortiGate GUI changes to show the unit of measurement that you configured.
Change the bandwidth measurement unit for a shared traffic shaper – CLI
config firewall shaper traffic-shaper
edit <traffic_shaper_name>
set bandwidth-unit {kbps | mbps | gbps}
next
end
Change the bandwidth measurement unit for a per-IP traffic shaper – CLI
config firewall shaper per-ip-shaper
edit <traffic_shaper_name>
set bandwidth-unit {kbps | mbps | gbps}
next
end
