Connections view

Connections view

The connections view displays the contents of the connection log—a list of historical host/user network connections.

To access the connections view, select Logs > Connections.

Settings

Field

Definition

Connect Time

Time the connection was established.

Disconnect Time

Time the connection was terminated.

User ID

ID used to log onto the network.

Name

Name of the associated user or vendor name, if neither is available MAC address is displayed. A host registered as a device may not have a user or vendor name.

Host Name

Name of the host for the selected connection record.

Location

Current or last known location of the device that made the connection.

IP Address

IP Address of the device that made the connection.

Physical Address

MAC address of the host or device that made the connection.

Host Type

Indicates whether the host is Registered or a Rogue.

Buttons

Import

Import historical connections from an Archive file. See Import archived data.

Export

Exports the data displayed to a file in the default downloads location. File types include CSV, Excel, PDF or RTF. See Export data.

Top users

The Top Users panel displays the top n hosts that were online for the longest time when you click the Top Online Users button.

  1. Click the Top Users button at the bottom of the Connections View.
  2. Enter the number of users to display and click Refresh.
