NTP and time zone

Use NTP and Time Zone to reset the time zone and NTP server for your FortiNAC appliances. Typically the time zone and NTP server are configured using the Configuration Wizard during the initial appliance set up.

The NTP server is used to synchronize the clock on the FortiNAC appliance. FortiNAC contacts the NTP server periodically to synchronize its clock with the NTP servers. NTP server keeps time in UTC or Coordinated Universal Time, which corresponds roughly to Greenwich Mean time.

Settings

Field	Definition
FortiNAC Servers	Provides a list of servers for which you can change time settings. If you have a Control server and an Application server pair, both servers are displayed in the list. In an HA environment this would include up to four servers, two Control servers and two Application servers. Each server's time must be set individually. Settings apply only to the server displayed in this field.
NTP Server	External server used to synchronize or update the clock on the selected FortiNAC server. Defaults to pool.ntp.org.
Time Zone	Time zone where the selected FortiNAC server resides.

Modify time settings

Changes to NTP or time zone require a server restart to take effect. Go to the Control Panel to restart the server now. See Power management.

1. Click System > Settings.
2. Expand the System Management folder.
3. Select NTP And Time Zone from the tree.
4. Click the FortiNAC Servers drop-down and choose the server to be modified.
5. Enter your preferred NTP Server in the NTP Server field.
6. Click the Time Zone drop-down and select the time zone for this server.
7. Click Save Settings to save settings for the selected server.
8. To modify another server, select it in the FortiNAC Servers drop-down and repeat steps 4 through 7.
