FortiDLP Console User Guide

Empty clipboard

Empty clipboard

Requirements: Windows or macOS.

The empty clipboard action blocks data exfiltration attempts, ensuring sensitive information remains inside your organization.

Supported with FortiDLP Policy Templates, this action clears a user's system clipboard when they copy unauthorized content from a desktop application or website—preventing them from pasting this content elsewhere.

The empty clipboard action can be used to stop data leaks of credit or debit card numbers, national identity numbers, drivers license numbers, and more.

For more information, refer to the FortiDLP Policies Reference Guide.

Note

The empty clipboard action only clears the system clipboard. Windows Microsoft Office apps have a built-in clipboard that permits users to copy and paste information within and across Microsoft Office apps even if a policy is enabled with the empty clipboard action. Because of this, we recommend disabling the Microsoft Office clipboard as described here.
