File Information (Linux)
The File Information agent resource plugin is used to monitor one of three things: whether a file exists, how long a file has existed, and how long since a file was last modified. This is a pretty flexible tool and you can use it in a number of different ways. For example, if you would like to track the completion of regularly scheduled jobs, then you can configure your job to touch a file once it finishes and we can alert you if the file’s age gets beyond a specified threshold.
To add a File Information agent resource to your server first see Add FortiMonitor Agent checks if you have not already.
Control Panel Configuration
First select Linux from the monitoring catalog.
Scroll to the File section. There a number of available metrics.

You can choose any file path you would like to monitor.
The specific number that this resource returns is defined by the above options, please take this into account if you choose to change your alert thresholds for this resource.
You can add as many File Information agent resources to one server as you need.
If you would like to inspect the File Information plugin in more detail you can find the python script for it in /usr/lib/fm-agent/plugins/file_presence.py.
