Creating an SD-WAN template (Hub)
An SD-WAN template is used to deploy the SD-WAN configuration. As part of creating an SD-WAN template, you will define SD-WAN zones, and add members to the zones.
This SD-WAN configuration does not cover Hub-to-Edge traffic (sessions originated behind the Hub). As a result, if such traffic exists, it will be handled by the traditional routing, disregarding the health of the overlays towards the Edge devices. If it is desired to let SD-WAN select the optimal path for Hub-to-Edge traffic, please follow the steps detailed in Signaling SLA status to hubs. |
To configure an SD-WAN template:
- In FortiManager, go to Device Manager > SD-WAN > SD-WAN Templates, and click Create New.
- In the Name box, type Hub-Template.
- Create SD-WAN zones named overlay and underlay:
- Under Interface Members, click Create New > SD-WAN Zone.
- In the Name box, type overlay, and click OK.
The SD-WAN zone named overlay is created.
- Repeat this procedure to create an SD-WAN zone named underlay.
Keep the zones empty at the moment.
- Create SD-WAN Members for this template, assigning them to the appropriate SD-WAN Zones, as follows:
Interface Member
SD-WAN Zone
UL_INET
underlay
EDGE_INET
overlay
EDGE_MPLS
overlay
- Under Interface Members, click Create New > SD-WAN Member.
The Create New SD-WAN Interface Member dialog box is displayed.
- In the Interface Member list, select UL_INET, and in the SD-WAN Zone list select underlay, and click OK.
- Create the remaining interface members.
- Click OK.
The interface members are created.
- Under Interface Members, click Create New > SD-WAN Member.
- Click OK to save the SD-WAN Template.
No further configuration is required in the SD-WAN Template on the Hub at the moment.
