SD-WAN Deployment for MSSPs

Configuring SD-WAN as default route (Edge)

Configuring SD-WAN as default route (Edge)

Just as with the hub, it is recommended that SD-WAN act as the default route. This will automatically generate FortiOS default route via all the configured SD-WAN Interface Members.

We will reuse the same CLI template 03-Default that we used on the Hub and add it to the CLI template group Edge-Template.

Note

As already mentioned, configuring SD-WAN to act as a default route is not mandatory, but it ensures that SD-WAN rules are fully responsible for traffic steering, making the routing configuration generic. For more details, see SD-WAN routing logic.

To add the template to the existing template group:
  1. In FortiManager, go to Device Manager > Provisioning Templates > CLI Template.
  2. Under CLI Template Group, double-click the Edge-Template to open it for editing.
  3. Beside Members, click + to select 03-Default, and add it to the CLI template group named Edge-Template.
