Deploying FortiGuest on Windows Hyper-V
Follow this procedure to create and configure FortiGuest on the Windows Hyper-V.
- Create a new VM in the Hyper-V manager. Click on New in the Actions column.
- Click Next to create a virtual machine with custom configuration.
- Enter a Name and select a Location for the virtual machine. Click Next.
- Select Generation 1 and click Next.
- Select the amount of memory you wish to allocate to your virtual machine, a minimum of 4 GB is required. Click Next.
- The Connection is set to your default switch. Click Next. You can connect to any switch configured in your network.
- Select Use an existing virtual hard disk and browse to the Hyper-V disk (.vhd). Click Next. The new VM is created.
Creating a Virtual Disk
After successfully creating a virtual machine, you are required to create a virtual disk.
- Right-click the new VM instance and select Settings.
- Select Hard Drive as the SCSI Controller. Click Add.
- Click New to create a new virtual hard disk.
- Select VHDX as the virtual disk format. Click Next.
- Select Fixed size (recommended) as the disk type. Click Next.
- Enter the Name of the virtual hard disk and browse to the Location to store it. Click Next.
- Enter the Size of the virtual hard disk. The minimum size in 500 GB. Click Next and then click Finish.
- Select the Processor and enter the Number of virtual processors. A minimum of 4 processors are supported. Click Apply and then click OK.
- Right-click the new VM instance and click Start.
- Ensure that the Install an operating system later option is enabled. Click Next.
The installation process may take 5-10 minutes (approximately) and appear to pause at times. FortiGuest is successfully installed when the login prompt appears.
