Summary of steps

These steps summarize how to get your FortiProxy up and running by using the GUI. For information about the Command Line Interface (CLI), see Using the CLI.

  1. Set up your FortiProxy for initial management access with the GUI. See Setting up FortiProxy for management access.

    Hypervisors, such as FortiProxy-VM on ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V, and so on. Go to FortiProxy Public Cloud or FortiProxy Private Cloud and follow the deployment guide for your hypervisor, for example, Microsoft Hyper-V Deployment Guide.

    Depending on the topology and FortiProxy model, internet access may not yet be configured for the FortiProxy. If no internet access, you cannot yet register the FortiProxy with Fortinet until later in the setup.

  2. In the GUI, complete the basic configuration steps for FortiProxy. After this step, all FortiProxy models should have internet access. See Configuring basic settings.

  3. Register FortiProxy with Fortinet by using your FortiCare/FortiCloud account with Fortinet Technical Support (https://support.fortinet.com). See Registering FortiProxy.

  4. Configure a policy for the FortiProxy to give clients behind FortiProxy access to the internet. See Create or edit a policy.
  5. Back up the configuration. See Backing up the configuration.

  6. If necessary, troubleshoot the installation. See Troubleshooting your installation.
