Define device blueprint

Define device blueprint

Device blueprints are used when adding model devices to simplify configuration of certain device settings, including device groups, configuring pre-run templates, policy packages, and provisioning templates.

Once a device blueprint has been created, it can be selected when adding a model device to FortiManager manually or through a CSV file.

To create the device blueprint:
  1. From Device Manager > Device & Groups, use the down arrow to the right of Add Device to select Device Blueprint.

  2. From the Device Blueprint menu, select Create New to enter the following details:

    Name

    Branch_Blueprint

    Device Model

    FortiGate-VM64

    Automatically Link to Real Device

    Enabled

    Add to Device Group

    Enable, select Branches

    Assign Policy Package

    Enable, select Branch_Policy

    Note

Pre-Run CLI Templates are often used in conjunction with VMs to help define the model devices with the necessary interfaces. By default the model device is created with one interface. If you require configuration on a VM, define and select a pre-run template here.

  3. Click OK to save the provisioning templates.

  4. Click Close to save the device blueprint.
