Normalized interfaces

Similarly to assigning branch id metadata variables, the FortiManager requirement of normalized interfaces is completed in the SD-WAN overlay wizard. For more information on normalized interfaces, please see the FortiManager Admin Guide.

The normalized interfaces and zones created as a result of the wizard can be found by navigating to Policy & Objects > Normalized Interface. From here enter overlay in the search bar to review all interface mappings created by the SDWAN Overlay Template.

While these mappings are sufficient as is, it would mean that we are referencing port3 instead of LAN in the upcoming policy package. Therefore, we will update some mappings for clarity.

To configure normalized interfaces:

1. From Policy & Objects > Normalized Interface, search for port3.

2. Edit the port3 mapping, and remove your branch and HUB FortiGate models from the list and save.

3. Create a new normalized interface by selecting Create New, and provide the following:

   1. Name: LAN

   2. Expand Per-Platform Mapping, and select Create New:

      1. Select the platform(s) removed in step 2.

      2. Select port3 as the Mapped Interface Name.

      3. Click OK to save.
