Zero touch provisioning (ZTP) using device blueprints

Zero touch provisioning (ZTP) using device blueprints

To support the zero-touch configuration, FortiManager leverages the Add Model Device feature that allows an administrator to provision a model device and automatically apply the configuration associated with that model device, once a FortiGate with a matching identifier is registered to FortiManager.

FortiManager offers device blueprints, which can be leveraged to simplify configuration of certain device settings. Branch on-boarding is streamlined with the use of device blueprints and metadata variables. Device blueprints are used when adding model devices and settings (such as device model, which can be called into the device group), configuring pre-run CLI templates, assigning policy packages, and using provisioning templates. Once a device blueprint has been created, it can be selected when adding a model device or when importing multiple model devices from a CSV file. Devices that are assigned the blueprint are automatically configured with the settings specified by the blueprint when the devices are added to FortiManager.

For more information about model device blueprints, see the FortiManager Administration Guide.
