Templates

Templates

Templates are a fantastic tool for any of our customers. If you have several servers that you would like to monitor in the same fashion, a server template is a perfect way to accomplish this configuration quickly. Once you have created a template, you can change the configuration whenever you like.

Create a template from an existing server

  1. From the Instance Details page of the server that you want to use as the base for the template, select 3-dot menu > Create Template.

    The Create Template modal is displayed.

  2. Select a name for the template.

  3. Select an Instance Group. This is where the new template will be located.

  4. Select a Template Type.
    - Network Device – For network devices with SNMP and network device metrics.
    - Generic – General purpose template for all instances (except network devices).
    - VMware – For VMware virtual machines.

  5. Click Submit. This will create and open the template.

  6. To configure the template, see Configure a template.

Create a template from scratch

  1. Click Add from the navigation menu. From the Config section of the Infrastructure and Resource Catalog, select the Template card.

  2. Selecting Template will open the Create Template modal where you can name your template and choose an Instance Group, and a Template Type.

  3. Select a name for the template.

  4. Select an Instance Group. This is where the new template will be located.

  5. Select a Template Type.
    - Network Device – For network devices with SNMP and network device metrics
    - Generic – General purpose template for all instances (except network devices)
    - VMware – For VMware virtual machines

    Click Submit. This will create and open the template.
