Migrate the FortiManager instance from a different platform is supported in the GUI.
To migrate a FortiManager instance using the GUI:

Go to the Dashboard .

In the System Information widget, click on the Restore option.
In the Restore System dialog, the Migrate from a different platform option is available.

Enable the Migrate from a different platform option.

Select the backup file that you want to migrate the database from.
For migration, the file can be from a different platform and version. For example, you can migrate the database from FMG-3900E to FMG-VM.

Click OK to complete the migration. The database will be migrated excluding System Settings.
