Creating the FortiGate-VM Snowball Edge

The following assumes that you have already created a key pair, installed and configured Snowball Edge CLI and AWS CLI, and are familiar with working in Linux or PowerShell CLI.

To create the FortiGate-VM Snowball Edge:
  1. Launch an instance:
    1. Go to Compute (EC2), then select Launch Instance.

    2. From the Image (AMI) dropdown list, select the image that you created.

    3. Select Create public IP address (VNI). This creates a virtual network interface and attaches it to port1 of the FortiGate.

    4. From the Physical network interface dropdown list, select the physical interface that is the Snowball Edge management interface.

    5. From the IP Address assignment dropdown list, select DHCP.

    6. Under Key pair, select Use existing key pair.

    7. From the Use existing key pair dropdown list, select the desired key pair.

    8. Read and select the checkbox for the acknowledgement.

    9. Click Launch.

  2. After the instance state changes to Running, you can find the instance ID by selecting the FortiGate-VM instance in OpsHub. You will use the instance ID in the DNI CLI creation process.

Creating the FortiGate-VM Snowball Edge

The following assumes that you have already created a key pair, installed and configured Snowball Edge CLI and AWS CLI, and are familiar with working in Linux or PowerShell CLI.

To create the FortiGate-VM Snowball Edge:
  1. Launch an instance:
    1. Go to Compute (EC2), then select Launch Instance.

    2. From the Image (AMI) dropdown list, select the image that you created.

    3. Select Create public IP address (VNI). This creates a virtual network interface and attaches it to port1 of the FortiGate.

    4. From the Physical network interface dropdown list, select the physical interface that is the Snowball Edge management interface.

    5. From the IP Address assignment dropdown list, select DHCP.

    6. Under Key pair, select Use existing key pair.

    7. From the Use existing key pair dropdown list, select the desired key pair.

    8. Read and select the checkbox for the acknowledgement.

    9. Click Launch.

  2. After the instance state changes to Running, you can find the instance ID by selecting the FortiGate-VM instance in OpsHub. You will use the instance ID in the DNI CLI creation process.
