Installing Security Event Manager Controller with VMware ESXi

To install the Security Event Manager Controller with VMware ESXi:
  1. Download and unzip the FAZBD_VM64-vX-buildxxxx-FORTINET.out.ovf.zip locally.
  2. Log in to VMware ESXi server.
  3. In the Navigator sidebar, right-click Host and select Create/Register VM.

    The New Virtual Machine wizard displays.

  4. Using the New Virtual Machine wizard, configure the FortiAnalyzer-BigData-VM:
    1. Select creation type
      1. Select Deploy a virtual machine from an OVF or OVA file.
      2. Click Next.
    2. Select OVF and VMDK files
      1. Enter a name for your virtual machine.
      2. Select or drag-and-drop the OVF and VMDK files downloaded in step 1.

        The files you selected are displayed in the blue pane.

      3. Click Next.
    3. Select storage
      1. Select the type of storage for your virtual machine.
      2. From the list, select a data storage location for your virtual machine.
      3. Click Next.
    4. Deployment options
      1. Select a port group to map to the VMs network.

        FortiAnalyzer-BigData requires two network interfaces.

        For example, select vlan10 as the Internal interface and DPortGroup as the External interface.

      2. Click Next.

        If Power on automatically is selected, the VM will power on automatically after you have finished creation. For next steps, see Powering on the VM from VMware ESXi.

    5. Ready to complete
      1. Review the configuration settings for the virtual machine.
      2. Click Finish to complete the creation task and close the wizard.

        The virtual machine appears in the VMware Host Client inventory under Virtual Machines.

To install the Security Event Manager Controller with VMware ESXi:
