Execution Logs

Execution Logs

At Resources > Automation > Playbooks, from the Execution Logs tab, you can view execution logs. These logs appear after executing a playbook from an incident or from an Automation Policy. Use the various filters to search for any specific log(s). Click on an playbook execution log to view more details. You can also purge all execution logs using the Purge Logs drop-down. See Purging Logs for more information.

Column Heading

Description

Name The playbook name.
Status The current status of a playbook execution (Active, Awaiting, Failed, Finished, Finished with Error, Incipient, Paused, Rejected, Skipped, Terminated).
Executed By The user who executed the playbook.
Executed On The date and time when the playbook was executed.
Execution Time The amount of time to finish execution of playbook.
Logging Mode The Logging mode (Any, Verbose, Minimal).

Purging Logs

To purge execution logs, click the Purge Logs drop-down, and select Purge Now to perform a manual purge or Schedule Purging to configure a schedule for purging logs.

Manual Purge

After select Purge Now, take the following steps:

  1. Click the Purge logs prior to drop-down.

  2. Use the GUI to select a date and time to purge all execution logs proceeding the selected date and time, and click Apply.

  3. Turn the Exclude playbooks with Awaiting status toggle ON if you wish to exclude playbooks with the Awaiting status from the manual purge.

  4. Click Purge.

Scheduled Purge

After select Schedule Purging, take the following steps:

  1. Toggle the Activate Playbook Execution Logs Purging ON, if you wish to make the purge schedule active.

  2. Click View Schedule, and take the following steps.

    1. In the Name field, enter a name for the Purge Schedule.

    2. Toggle Active to ON if you want the Purge Schedule to be Active.

    3. In the Frequency section, use the GUI to configure the exact period of time a purge will occur.

    4. From the Timezone drop-down, select the time zone.

    5. If you wish to only allow one active instance of a purge schedule, check the Limit Execution to one active instance at a time checkbox.

    6. Click the Start Date drop-down, use the GUI to configure the date and time to start the Purge Schedule, and click Apply.

    7. Click the End Date drop-down, use the GUI to configure the date and time to stop the Purge Schedule, and click Apply.

    8. Click Save.

  3. In the Retain Logs For field, make any adjusts for execution log retention.

  4. (Optional) Click + Add Additional Criteria to configure any additional conditions to follow.

    1. Use the GUI to configure condition(s) and group(s) as needed.

  5. When done, click Save.
