What’s new

This release contains the following new features and enhancements:

  • FortiPortal now offers an embedded database.

  • FortiPortal now uses a cloud native docker-based infrastructure.

  • GUI improvements and menu reorganization across FortiPortal:

    • Customers tab renamed to Organizations.

    • The Organizations tab includes new General, Contact, ADOMs, and Authentication tabs when creating or editing organizations.

      Previously available Sites, Customer Users, and Reports windows now available when creating or editing organizations.

    • New System tab replaces Admin:

      • Previously available Admin > Settings panes now available as General, Authentication, Email, and Others tabs in System > Settings.

      • Roles tab renamed to Profiles.

      • Previously available System Log tab now available as an option in System > Settings > General.

      • Previously available System Info tab related information now available in the Dashboard.

      • Blocked Hosts now available in System > Settings.

      • New Scalable Cluster tab in System > Settings.

    • Administrative users previously available in the top-right banner now available as Admins in System.

    • System Notifications renamed to Notifications.

    • New Insights tab for the organization-side with the Dashboard, Monitors, Health, and Logs related tabs.

    • New Security tab with Policy, Firewall Objects, and Network:

      • Previously available Objects tab now available in Security as Firewall Objects.

      • Previously available Device Manager now renamed available in Security as Network.

    • New Switch menu option.

  • FortiPortal now offers simpler one-level permission settings when creating a profile in System > Profiles.

  • New MSSP dashboard with the following new widgets:

    • System Information- Includes system-related information.

      The System Information widget integrates information from the previously available System Info tab into the Dashboard.

    • Cluster Information- FortiPortal cluster related information including instance serial numbers, IP address, devices allowed, CPU and memory usage.

    • License Status

    • License Distribution

    • FortiManager Status

    • FortiAnalyzer Status

    • Top 10 Organizations

  • FortiPortal now supports exporting policy package information as a CSV file.

  • The search bar in Security > Policy now allows you to look for a policy based on an IP address or a part of the IP address. The search bar also allows you to look for policy based on port numbers within the service objects or objects found in groups or nested groups.

  • FortiPortal now includes FortiAP management capabilities when creating or editing sites for an organization.

    You can see the list of managed FortiAP devices by selecting a FortiManager device in Devices > FortiManager and then selecting Device Repo.

  • Improved Reports tab with new report formats. Reports to be Executed dialog allows you to add available devices.

  • FortiPortal now supports FortiManager policies with consolidated firewall mode enabled.

  • New Monitoring tab in WiFi that displays all the Access Points available within a site and their properties.

    The Monitoring tab also displays AP clients and their properties including signal strength, SNR, and connection status.

    You can also drill-down on an access point or an AP client to see additional information.

  • FortiPortal now includes FortiSwitch management capabilities when creating or editing sites for an organization.

    You can see the list of managed FortiSwitch devices by selecting a FortiManager device in Devices > FortiManager and then selecting Device Repo.

  • Address and address group firewall objects support IPv6 addresses.

  • New Monitoring tab in Switch that displays switches and clients available within a site and their properties.

  • FortiPortal now natively supports 2FA for local and remote users.

  • Performance improvements for SD-WAN.

  • When creating or editing an organization, a new Authentication tab is available. MSSPs can allow organizations to use separate SSO authentication servers for improved security.

  • When creating a new IPSec interface, FortiPortal now checks whether the normalization interface exists or not using the IPSec interface name:

    • If the interface exists, FortiPortal creates a dynamic mapping for the targeted FortiGate device/VDOM.

    • Otherwise, FortiPortal creates both the normalization interface and the dynamic mapping.

    When deleting an IPSec interface, FortiPortal removes the dynamic mapping from the normalization interface.

  • FortiPortal now supports setting up scalable clusters with a primary FortiPortal instance and multiple secondary FortiPortal instances.
