Upgrading FortiPortal and migrating to FortiAnalyzer mode

  1. Ensure that you set up FortiAnalyzer with the same ADOM/device/VDOM name in FortiManager.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about migrating FortiPortal from Collector to FortiAnalyzer mode

  1. How can I monitor the switch from Collector to FortiAnalyzer mode?

You can monitor the backend activity by watching ftnt_fpc.log, and the frontend activity by using the browser’s console/network. If an error occurs, retrying the upgrade process may solve the issue.

  2. Can I use the current FortiPortal database tables: fpc_faz_device and fpc_device to confirm if serial numbers between FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer match?

To be able to perform serial number matching, you should have the device name and serial number mapping data from FortiAnalyzer.

fpc_faz_device and fpc_device FortiPortal database tables do not have device serial numbers from FortiAnalyzer.

  3. Which tables can I check in FortiPortal to ensure that the device names are same?

Use fpc_faz_device and fpc_device tables to confirm that the device names (ADOM/device/VDOM) match between FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.

  4. Would I be able to have the same or similar report that I have in the Collector mode?

Customer reports generated in the Collector mode are maintained in FortiPortal. Once FortiPortal switches to the FortiAnalyzer mode, all the reports are configured using FortiAnalyzer, and FortiPortal only displays the reports.

  5. Are there any other feature differences that I would encounter when I switch to the FortiAnalyzer mode?

As of now, the Session tab in Application view is not available when you switch to the FortiAnalyzer mode. Also, a different set of dashboard widgets are available to customers in the FortiAnalyzer mode.
