Ping

Ping

Ping checks are useful for understanding Layer 3 health and latency separate from your application. It's also the most basic of the uptime checks. In addition to latency, you can optionally monitor packet loss as well.

Control Panel Configuration

Select Ping from the monitoring catalog.

Check types

  • Ping

  • Jitter

There are a number of other options to configure with Ping including the IP or FQDN you will be checking, and from which location you would like the check to run. The check can run from any of our public monitoring nodes, or an OnSight vCollector if you have one set up. In addition, you can also configure the following:

  • Packet Loss Threshold - For ping checks. Enter the percentage of packet loss allowed before an incident is considered..

  • Packet Count - For Jitter checks. The number of packets to send.
