SD-WAN Manager section for SD-WAN related configurations

SD-WAN Manager menu groups together all relevant SD-WAN related configurations under new sections: Network, Templates, Overlay Orchestration, and Rules.

The SD-WAN Manager includes the following sections in the tree menu:

In order to add devices to the SD-WAN Manager, you must enable SD-WAN Management on the device.

Network

The Network menu includes the Devices and Monitors tabs.

Devices

The Devices tab allows you to view and manage devices that are configured for SD-WAN management.

Feature

Description

Menu Bar (onboarding) The menu bar has the same functionality as in the Device Manager, including the ability to add devices, manage device groups, and perform an install.
Device List

The device list table includes information about SD-WAN devices, including assigned templates, firmware, etc.

Devices that have been configured for SD-WAN Management will appear in the table. You can learn more about configuring devices for SD-WAN Management in the Administration Guide.

Monitor

The Monitor tab includes SD-WAN charts and views that were previously found under the Device Manager.

Feature

Description

Donut Charts The monitor includes multiple donut charts which display information about device status, SLA status, and template status.
SD-WAN Views The monitor includes existing SD-WAN views, including the Map View, Template View, and Table View.

Templates

The Templates section includes template groups and templates that are used as a part of SD-WAN (excluding the SD-WAN Template and SD-WAN Overlay Template), including template Groups, IPsec Tunnel templates, BGP templates, Static Route templates, and CLI templates.

Overlay Orchestration

The Overlay Orchestration section allows for the configuration of the SD-WAN overlay using the SD-WAN Overlay Template that was previously found under Device Manager > Provisioning Templates.

Rules

The Rules section allows you to create SD-WAN rules using the SD-WAN Template that was previously found under Device Manager > Provisioning Templates.

Assigning devices for SD-WAN Management

Devices can be assigned for SD-WAN Management when they are onboarded as a model device or after they have been added to FortiManager.

When adding a new model device, a new Managed by SD-WAN Manager field is displayed. When this field is enabled, the device will be automatically assigned for SD-WAN management when it is added to FortiManager.

Alternatively, you can select an existing device and click More > Enable/Disable SD-WAN Management from the Device Manager > Devices & Groups or SD-WAN Manager > Devices tables to enable or disable SD-WAN management for existing devices.

You can check the SD-WAN management status in the Managed by SD-WAN Manager column.
