CLI Reference

domain-association

domain-association

Use this command to configure domain associations. An associated domain uses the settings of the protected domain or subdomain with which it is associated.

This can save time and reduce chances for error when you have multiple domains with the same settings, and you would otherwise need to perform any changes multiple times. For additional time savings, you can create domain associations with a wildcard, such as *.example.com.

The maximum number of domain associations is separate from the maximum number of protected domains. See also the FortiMail maximum configurable values.

Alternatively, you can configure LDAP queries to automatically add domain associations. For details, see domain-parent-attr <attribute_str>.

This command is not available in server mode.

Syntax

config domain-association

edit <associated-domain_str>

set main-domain <protected-domain_name>

next

end

Variable

Description

Default

<associated-domain_str>

Enter the name of a mail domain that you want to use the same settings as another protected domain.

main-domain <protected-domain_name>

Enter the name of the protected domain. The associated domain will use the settings of this domain.

If relay-type {host | ip-pool | ldap-domain-routing | mx-lookup | mx-lookup-alt-domain} is mx-lookup or mx-lookup-alt-domain, also configure domain-association-mxlookup {self | parent}.
