New features or enhancements

FortiExtender 7.6.4 offers the following new features and enhancements:

  • Support the following new models: FEV-511G, FEX-101G, and FEX-211G.
  • FortiExtender G-series models support eSIM.
  • Support configuring the LAN-Extension member VLAN ID (VID) in LAN-Extension mode (Managed, requires FOS 7.6.4+).
  • When a LAN-Extension connection is established or broken, the LE-switch member ports power resets so that attached clients can obtain new IPs from the DHCP (Managed).

  • Support accessing the FortiExtender API and GUI through an IPv6 address (Standalone).

  • Support IPv6 in the following areas:

    • IPv6 on stateless address auto-configuration (SLAAC) (Standalone).
    • IPv4-IPv6 dual stacking on FortiExtender (Standalone).
    • Support IPv6 addresses in firewall policies (Standalone).
    • Support IPv6 DNS packet for the DNS proxy function. Users can configure static IPv6 addresses and automatically acquire dynamic IPv6 DNS addresses through SLAAC (Standalone).
    • Support IPv6 addressing (Standalone).
    • Support static IPv6 address and routing (Standalone).
  • Support configuring the source IP for RADIUS server configuration (Standalone).
  • Support for DNS category filtering through FortiExtender DNS filtering profiles (Standalone).
  • FortiExtender WiFi models in LAN extension mode support captive portals and captive portal redirection (Standalone and Managed in FOS 8.0.0+)
  • Add a VWAN log category (Standalone).
  • The FortiExtender firmware is now digitally signed using a SHA-256 signature.
