Saving the Sophos source configuration files
Before starting the conversion wizard, save a copy of your Sophos configuration file to the computer where FortiConverter is installed.
To save the source configuration files on SFOS
- In the web UI, go to Backup & Firmware.
- Click Import Export.
- Select Export full configurations in block Export.
- Click Export and save the configuration file, which should be XML-formatted.
Please note that the Sophos backups are no longer xml format, it is encrypted now. This minor security enhancement was introduced since v17.5 MR4, April 2019. |
To save the source configuration files on Cyberoam OS:
- In the web UI, go to System.
- Click Maintenance.
- Click Import Export and save the configuration file, which should be XML-formatted.
To save the source configuration files on SG:
- In Webadmin open the printable configuration.
- Use WinSCP to connect to the FileSystem of your appliance using SSH.
- Navigate to
/var/chroot-httpd/var/webadmin
- Create a new folder xx on your computer, and store all the necessary files. Create a subdirectory yy
- Copy the folder "printable_configuration" into directory xx
- On your appliance, move to the subfolder var (
/var/chroot-httpd/var/webadmin/var
). There you will find a directory with a cryptic name e.g.[:$]LIHKeSjlOjzQrjuMESn, doubleclick on it. - Copy all the folders from that directory (downloads,objectcache,uploads,xml) to your local folder yy.
- On your computer navigate in the folder ....xx\yy\xml\
- Open webadmin.xml in a browser to access the offline configuration.
- Use the file "webadmin.xml" as the input for the FortiConverter tool.
(This process contains plain text passwords and pre-shared keys, please be mindful of it)
