What to do if a soft reset fails

A soft reset might fail with the following error conditions:

An error message displaying:

  • "checksum verification failed"
  • "could not find image"

Perform an upgrade with the image of the intended version or latest version.

The Security Event Manager Controller cannot boot up after an upgrade and you cannot connect to the Security Event Manager Controller

Perform the following steps:

  1. Access the bootloader of the Security Event Manager Controller (see Bootloader).
  2. Select the "Backup" option to restore the last working OS image to the system.
  3. Access the Security Event Manager Controller and perform an upgrade via fazbdctl CLI commands (see Upgrade FortiAnalyzer-BigData) with the image of the intended version or latest version.
  4. Rerun the reset command to perform a soft reset.

You can also retry a soft reset by using the option flag (-o) in the reset command:

  • From the Security Event Manager Controller, enter the following command to retry soft reset on the cluster from where it fails:

    fazbdctl reset cluster -o retry

  • Or enter the following command from the controller to retry soft reset on the cluster from the very beginning:

    fazbdctl reset cluster -o restart
