Deploying FortiWeb-VM on Nutanix

Uploading FortiWeb deployment image to Nutanix

  1. Log in to the Nutanix management console.
  2. Upload the FortiWeb-VM image:
    1. Go to Explore > Images.
    2. Click Add Image.
    3. Under Image Source, click Image File.
    4. In the Add Images window, click Add File.
    5. Select the VM image file downloaded in Obtaining the Deployment Image.
    6. In the IMAGE TYPE dropdown list, ensure Disk is selected.
    7. In the IMAGE DESCRIPTION field, enter the desired description.
    8. Click Save.
    9. Wait a few minutes, then refresh the browser. You will find the newly created VM image in the Explore > Images list.
  3. Check that Nutanix Image Service reports the VM image as active:
    1. In the Nutanix management console, go to the main dashboard.
    2. Under Cluster Storage, click the current cluster.
    3. Click Launch Prism Element.
    4. Go to Settings > Image Configuration.
    5. In the Image Configuration window, ensure that the newly created VM is listed as active.

Creating FortiWeb deployment image

  1. In the Nutanix management console, go to Explore > VMs > Create VM.
  2. Enter the following configuration information for General Configuration and Compute Details:
    1. In the NAME field, enter the desired name for your VM.
    2. In the VCPU(s) field, specify 1, 2, 4, or 8, depending on how many vCPUs are supported in your license.
    3. In the MEMORY field, allocate at least 8 GB memory.
  3. By default, a CD-ROM is listed under Disks. Delete the CD-ROM.
  4. You must create a disk for the VM. The disk is 32 GB. 2 GB is used for system booting, and 30 GB is for logs.
    1. Click Add New Disk.
    2. The boot disk will be cloned from the VM image that you uploaded. Under OPERATION, select Clone from Image Service.
    3. Under BUS TYPE, select sata.
    4. Under IMAGE, select the FortiWeb disk image.
    5. Click Add. The boot disk has been added.
  5. Add a network interface for the VM:
    1. Under Network Adapters (NIC), click Add New NIC.
    2. Under VLAN NAME, enter a name for the NIC.
    3. Click Add.
  6. <OPTIONAL> Pin the VM to a host:
    1. Under VM Host Affinity, click Set Affinity.
    2. Under SELECT HOSTS, select the desired host.
    3. Click Save.
  7. Click Save. The system displays a Successfully submitted Create operation message when the VM has been created successfully with no error.
When you deploy the FortiWeb-VM package, network adapters are created automatically. If you want to delete network adapters, do it during the deployment process. It's not recommended to delete network adapters once the FortiWeb is deployed, otherwise unexpected error will occur.

Powering on FortiWeb-VM

By default, FortiWeb-VM is shutdown after initial creation. You need to power it on.

  1. In the Nutanix management console, go to Explore > VMs.
  2. Select the newly created VM. Click Actions > Power On.

  1. Log in to the Nutanix management console.

  3. Check that Nutanix Image Service reports the VM image as active:
