Dashboard

Dashboard

Go to System > Dashboard to see your FortiSwitch management mode, the status of the ports and power supply units (PSUs), and the current values for the following:

  • CPU
  • RAM
  • Temperature for FortiSwitch models that have temperature sensors
  • PoE (on FortiSwitch PoE models)
  • Bandwidth
  • Losses

NOTE: The PSU status is shown only on FortiSwitch models with redundant PSUs.

Remote configuration

The Remote Configuration field shows whether the FortiSwitch unit is managed by a FortiGate unit or FortiLAN Cloud. It also shows if the FortiSwitch unit is being examined by Customer Support (ETAC) during a remote assistance session.

FortiLAN Cloud

The FortiLAN Cloud field shows whether the FortiSwitch unit is managed by FortiLAN Cloud. A FortiSwitch unit must be in standalone mode to be manged by FortiLAN Cloud. For more details about using FortiLAN Cloud, refer to the FortiLAN Cloud User Guide.

Click FortiLAN Cloud to go to the System > FortiLAN Cloud page.

Select the Enable checkbox and then expand Advanced Settings to configure your FortiSwitch unit to be managed by FortiLAN Cloud.

To switch to FortiLAN Cloud management:
  1. On the FortiLAN Cloud page, select the Enable checkbox and then expand Advanced Settings.
  2. Enter the domain name for FortiLAN Cloud.
  3. Enter the port number used to connect to FortiLAN Cloud.
  4. Enter the time in seconds allowed for domain name system (DNS) resolution.
  5. Click Update to save your changes.

Remote Assistance

When the remote assistance session is active, it is shown in the System Information panel of your FortiSwitch dashboard, and a warning against local changes is displayed at the top of the GUI.

Bandwidth

The Bandwidth graphs show the inbound and outbound bandwidth for the entire FortiSwitch unit over a day and over a week. The Average Per Interface bar chart shows the average bandwidth (inbound bandwidth plus outbound bandwidth) for each interface over a day and over a week; only the interfaces with the highest bandwidth are displayed.

Losses

The Losses graphs show the inbound errors, outbound errors, inbound drops, and outbound drops for the entire FortiSwitch unit over a day and over a week.

Backing up the system configuration

To back up the configuration from the dashboard:
  1. Go to System > Dashboard.
  2. Next to the System Configuration field, select Backup.
    You can enter a password to encrypt the backup file. Passwords can be up to 15 characters in length.

Checking the license status

Using the GUI:
  1. Go to System > Dashboard.
  2. Check which licenses are currently active.
    They are listed in the Current License field of the System Information section.
