Replacing a Switch
You can replace a switch in your network with another switch of the same model and copy the configuration to the new switch. The new switch must have the same or higher firmware version. The replacement operation is required either due to switch failure (RMA) or any other reason (non-RMA).
- Backup the switch configuration prior to the replacement operation, see Configuration Backup/Restore or Network.
- FortiCare synchronizes the inventory data with FortiLAN Cloud periodically and the switch inventory page is updated with the new switch details. Navigate to My Account > Switch Inventory and deploy the new switch, see Deploying FortiSwitch device to a network.
- Select Replace with Another Switch from the Actions drop-down menu of the online FortiSwitch unit that you want to replace, select RMA Replace or Replace (non-RMA).
- Select the serial number and click Perform Replace.
- Click View Config to view the configuration details.
