General tab

General tab

Use the System > Settings > General tab to change the system time, configure email service, specify the system operation settings, and so on.

To configure the General tab:
  1. Go to System > Settings. The General tab is displayed.

  2. Under System time, set the system time. See Setting the system time.

  3. Under Email service, configure alerts. See Email alerts.

  4. Under System operation settings, configure the following options:

    VLAN switch mode

    Enable/disable VLAN switch mode. See Virtual VLAN switch.

    NGFW mode

    Set the Next Generation Firewall mode:

    • Profile-based: Application and web-filtering are configured using profiles applied to policy entries.

    • Policy-based: Application and web-filtering are configured as policy match conditions. See NGFW policy.

    Central SNAT

    Defines and controls the address translation performed by FortiGate. See Central SNAT and Central DNAT.

    Always enabled when NFGW mode is set to Policy-based.

    Can be enabled or disabled when NFGW mode is set to Profile-based.

    Virtual domains

    Enable/disable virtual domains. See Virtual Domains.

  5. Under Configuration, configure the following options:

    Create a configuration revision on logout

    Enable/disable automatic creation of a revision when administrators log out of FortiGate and changes were made during the session.

    See Configuration revision for more information.

  6. Under FortiCare debug report, click Download to download the debug log file for the FortiGate.

  7. Click Apply to save the changes.
