FortiGate

Implementing IPS and AV requires a FortiGate. When traffic flows through the FortiGate, it can be evaluated and an action may be applied. There are many supporting products which increase the FortiGate's capabilities or enhance the administrator’s experience deploying, managing and updating the solution. These products include the following:

FortiManager

FortiManager is highly recommended to assist with deploying and managing AV and IPS for one or more FortiGates. In addition to these features, FortiManager also greatly assists with the remaining FortiGate features, such as NGFW features (web filtering, CASB), VPN, and routing.

FortiAnalyzer

FortiAnalyzer is Fortinet’s logging solution. In addition to receiving logs, FortiAnalyzer processes them into a database where advanced correlation and reporting is done. This provides value when there is only one FortiGate and truly shines as a single pane of glass to review your entire network when multiple Fortinet products are involved (several FortiGates, FortiMail, EMS, and so on).

FortiSwitch and FortiAP

FortiSwitch and FortiAP extend the security that your FortiGate provides to the LAN edge and branch office. Utilizing these devices which closely integrate with the FortiGate through the security fabric, administrators are able to implement internal segmentation and role based access control, allowing for finer tuning of AV and IPS implementations.
