Using the SPP graphs

Using the SPP graphs

Use the Monitor > SPP graph to monitor overall throughput for a selected SPP.

The SPP graph includes the following view options:

  • SPP - Traffic for a selected Service Protection Policy
  • Y-Axis scale – Linear or Logarithmic
  • Throughput – Ingress/Egress traffic rates selectable in packets per second (Packets) or bits per second (Bits)
  • Direction – View Inbound or Outbound traffic
  • Graph Period - View the graph for 1 hour to 1 year

FortiDDoS displays Ingress/Egress traffic differently from other networking products. To show the affect the FortiDDoS SPP is having on traffic in either direction FortiDDoS shows:

    • Inbound Ingress traffic from the Internet to FortiDDoS SPP
    • Inbound Egress traffic from FortiDDoS SPP to your protected network

on the same graph. Similarly, outbound ingress is from the protected network to FortiDDoS and egress is from FortiDDoS to the Internet.

With this graph combination, any differential between the inbound ingress and inbound egress is immediately obvious from the divergence of the graphs and indicates that traffic is being dropped by this SPP.

Before you begin:

  • You must have Read permission for the Monitor menu.
  • Refer to Reading Monitor graphs to understand the graphs in detail.
To display the graphs:
  1. Go to Monitor > SPP
  2. Select the desired SPP and other options from the drop-down menus.
