SOCaaS MSSP Onboarding

This SOCaaS onboarding quick start guide for MSSP includes the following information:

Step 1: Determine your onboarding type

A managed security service provider (MSSP) offers network security services to an organization. For more information, see What is a Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP)?.

When using SOCaaS as an MSSP, you must either onboard as a MSSP account or a Regular account depending on how you manage your client's devices:

You manage client devices under your own FortiCare account.

Your manage client devices using their individual FortiCare accounts.

Step 2: Complete the MSSP onboarding request from the SOCaaS portal

To complete the onboarding request:
  1. Log in to your FortiCloud account.
  2. Go to Services > Cloud Services > SOCaaS. The SOCaaS welcome page opens.
  3. Click on the Start Onboarding button and select MSSP as your customer type.
    The full steps for onboarding an MSSP account using the SOCaaS Onboarding Wizard are available in the SOCaaS User Guide.
  4. Before proceeding to the next step, wait until you receive an email from the SOCaaS Onboarding team which includes next steps and instructions.

Step 3: Setting up SOCaaS on the MSSP FortiAnalyzer (on-premises only)

Note

If using FortiAnalyzer Cloud, the following steps are not required.

To set up your FortiAnalyzer:
  1. After submitting an onboarding request from the SOCaaS Customer Portal, you will receive an email from the SOCaaS Onboarding team with instructions on how to configure your FortiAnalyzer on-premises to forward logs to SOCaaS.
  2. Configure your FortiAnalyzer to forward logs to SOCaaS. For full steps, see Configuring an on-premise FortiAnalyzer.
  3. Reply to the email from Fortinet-SOC@fortinet.com to confirm that the log forwarding configuration is completed.
  4. Please wait for a confirmation email from the SOCaaS Onboarding team. The message will inform you when Onboarding is completed. This may take up to three business days (Pacific Standard Time).

Step 4: Onboard MSSP clients

Once you have received confirmation that your MSSP account has been successfully onboarded, you can onboard MSSP clients.

To complete a MSSP client onboarding request:
  1. Log in to your FortiCloud account.
  2. Go to Services > Cloud Services > SOCaaS. The SOCaaS welcome page opens.
  3. Click on the Start MSSP Client Onboarding service request button to launch the SOCaaS MSSP Client Onboarding Wizard.
    The full steps for onboarding using the SOCaaS Onboarding Wizard are available in the SOCaaS User Guide.
  4. Before proceeding to the next step, wait until you receive an email from the SOCaaS Onboarding team which includes next steps and instructions.

Note

If using FortiAnalyzer Cloud, the following steps are not required.

To set up your FortiAnalyzer:
  1. After submitting an onboarding request from the SOCaaS Customer Portal, you will receive an email from the SOCaaS Onboarding team with instructions on how to configure your FortiAnalyzer on-premises to forward logs to SOCaaS.

  4. Please wait for a confirmation email from the SOCaaS Onboarding team. The message will inform you when Onboarding is completed. This may take up to three business days (Pacific Standard Time).

Step 4: Onboard MSSP clients
