Configuring DNS and FortiAuthenticator's FQDN
- On FortiAuthenticator, go to System > Dashboard > Status. In the System Information widget, select the edit icon next to Device FQDN.
Enter a domain name (in this example,fac.school.net
). This will help identify where the FortiAuthenticator is located in the DNS hierarchy. - Enter the same name for the Host Name. This is so you can add the unit to the FortiGate's DNS list so that the local DNS lookup of this FQDN can be resolved.
- On FortiGate, open the CLI Console and enter the following command using the FortiAuthenticator host name and internet-facing IP address.
config system dns-database
edit school.net
config dns-entry
edit 1
set hostname fac.school.net
set ip 192.168.50.100
next
end
set domain school.net
