Migrating the configuration

Migrating the configuration

You can back up the configuration of one FortiAnalyzer and then use the GUI or CLI to migrate the settings to another FortiAnalyzer on the same or different platform or version.

If you encrypted the FortiAnalyzer configuration file when you created it, you need the password to decrypt the configuration file when you migrate the file to another FortiAnalyzer model.

Note

When migrating the database from another platform, all configurations except the system settings are migrated. These system settings must be manually copied from the original FortiAnalyzer model to the other FortiAnalyzer model.

To migrate the FortiAnalyzer configuration using the GUI:
  1. In one FortiAnalyzer model, go to Dashboards > Status.
  2. Back up the system. See Backing up the system.
  3. In the other FortiAnalyzer model, go to Dashboards > Status.
  4. If the configuration file is for multiple ADOMs, enable Administrative Domains in the System Information widget before migrating.

  5. Click on the Restore option next to System Configuration.
    The Restore System dialog appears.

  6. Enable the option to Migrate from a different platform.
  7. Upload the backup file from the migrating platform, and click OK.
  8. After migrating, update the system settings, as needed.
To migrate the FortiAnalyzer configuration using the CLI:

  3. In the other FortiAnalyzer model, go to Dashboards > Status.
