Interact with a VM clone during the scan

Interact with a VM clone during the scan

When a Windows clone is scanning a file, it is helpful to access it and monitor the scan process. The Guest VM Running mode behaves differently between Nested and Non-Nested units:

  • Nested: Uses the internal VNC monitor that is easier to access.
  • Non-Nested: Uses the RDP to access the running Guest VM.
To interact with a VM clone during a scan:
  1. Go to Scan Job > File On-Demand or URL on-Demand and click Submit File or Submit File/URL.
  2. Enable Advanced Options > Force to scan the URL inside the VM and enable the Allow Interaction option.
  3. Select Force to scan inside the following VMs and select the custom VM.
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Go to Scan Job > VM Job.

  6. For Nested units: Click the VM interact icon when enabled to open the VNC monitor directly.
  7. For Non-Nested units:

    1. In the pop-up window, click the Establish a Tunnel for Remote Desktop button.

    2. Launch an RDP connection from your local PC. RDP login credentials:
    • User Name: administrator
    • Password: The unit’s serial number. This should be displayed on the GCP VM instance console and the dashboard.
