Jamf

Jamf

Jamf is an endpoint management solution that enables scalable and centralized management of Apple mobile devices and personal computers:

  • Efficient and effective administration of endpoints

  • Designed to maximize operational efficiency and includes automated capabilities for device management and troubleshooting

  • Polling behavior when On Demand Lookup is enabled: Single device lookup using the MAC address

  • Supports registering devices through Jamf connecting to the network via wired Ethernet interface

FortiNAC collects the following host data from Jamf:

  • Type (MacOS/IOS primarily)

  • IOS/OSX

  • Owner (User)

  • Host Name

  • Application Data (if configured)

Requirements

FortiNAC

  • Supported Engine Version: 8.8.0 and greater

Jamf

  • Supported Server Version: 10.x and greater

  • Pro version

Considerations

  • Ethernet MAC addresses for AppleTVs may not be discoverable through FortiNAC. This is due to a limitation in JAMF where the Ethernet MAC address is not searchable within JAMF itself.

  • Bearer Token authentication is now supported.

Configure Jamf

Transitioned to Bearer Token authentication from Basic authentication.

(Beginning in version 10.35.0 of Jamf Pro, the Classic API now accepts Bearer Token authentication. Beginning in version 10.42.0 of Jamf Pro, basic authentication in the Classic API will no longer be enabled by default for new Jamf Pro instances for enhanced security. Support for Basic authentication is scheduled to be removed on March 31st of 2024. )For details see:
