Target System Installation

Target System Installation

Prerequisites

Installation on the target system requires the following:

  • Physical access to the system being migrated.

  • The USB flash drive installed in the previous section.

  • A monitor and keyboard attached to the system for console access. You should attach these and verify they are working before starting the installation. Alternatively, if you are already using the serial port for console access, you may use that instead.

Target System Installation Steps

  1. The USB flash drive should now be inserted into an available USB port on the target CentOS-based FortiNAC system being migrated.

  2. CAUTION! If you have not backup your data from Data Migration section above, the installer will remind you again to backup your data.

  3. Reboot the system if it is already running, otherwise turn on the power.

  4. The system boot sequence will resume now, and should be actively monitored. As the boot sequence progresses, the following will appear on the top of the screen.

  5. Press F11 as soon as possible to enter the Boot Manager. That option will be highlighted on the screen, then wait a little bit before the following Boot Manager screen appears.

  6. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard and select "One-shot BIOS Boot Menu" and then press <Enter>, the following will appear.

    Note: The exact list of boot options may vary, but you should see “Disk connected to (front/rear) USB." Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to select that one and press <Enter>.

  7. The boot process should continue from here. It may take another minute or two, but the USB installer should boot, and you should see the following:

  8. Now press any key on the keyboard and the following will appear.

  9. Now type “YES” (all uppercase) and press <Enter> to proceed. Typing anything else will safely abort the installation without modification. Then the following will appear.

  10. Now type “CONFIRM” (all uppercase) and press <Enter> to proceed. Typing anything else will safely abort the installation without modification. Then the following will appear.

The installation is now complete. After the system reboots it will be now run a clean FortiNAC-OS installation. Log in at the prompt similar to any FortiNAC system to proceed with configuration.
