Step 1: Stage Appliance(s)

Hardware Setup

Complete the following steps for each appliance.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT CONNECT THE APPLIANCE(S) TO THE NETWORK AT THIS TIME.

1. Unpack and power up the appliance as described in the Fortinet QuickStart Guide included with the appliance.

2. Connect the Management Computer to port1 using the supplied Ethernet cable. See the Fortinet QuickStart Guide for details on port location by model.

3. Set the Management Computer’s IP and subnet to:

   Static IP Address: 192.168.1.1

   Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

4. SSH to IP address 192.168.1.99.

5. Login to the CLI using the following:

   User name = admin

   Password = <no password>

   Record the MAC. This will be required to register the appliance. Important: Do not use the MAC address listed on the shipping label.

   Type
   get hardware status

   Example:

   MAC: xx:x:xx:xx:xx:xx

6. Record the Serial Number. This will be required to register the appliance. Type

   get system status

   Example:

   Serial-Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx

7. Enable Administration UI access and logout of the CLI. Type

   config system interface

   edit port1

   set allowaccess https-adminui ssh

   next

   end

   exit
