Setting up management connections

Setting up management connections

When your FortiGate 7000E first starts up, the MGMT1 to MGMT4 interfaces of the FIMs are combined into a static 802.3 aggregate interface with a default IP address of 192.168.1.99. If your FortiGate 7000E has one FIM, the MGMT1 to MGMT4 interfaces of that FIM are combined into the static 802.3 aggregate interface. On the GUI or CLI this aggregate interface is named mgmt.

Example mgmt interface configuration

You can configure and manage your FortiGate 7000E by connecting an Ethernet cable to any of the MGMT1 - 4 interfaces of the FIM in slot 1 or slot 2 and logging into the GUI using HTTPS or the CLI using SSH.

If your FortiGate 7000E has one FIM, you can configure and manage your FortiGate 7000E by connecting an Ethernet cable to any of the MGMT1 - 4 interfaces of that FIM and logging into the GUI using HTTPS or the CLI using SSH.

In both cases, the default IP address is 192.168.1.99 and you can log in with the admin administrator account with no password.

Note For security reasons you should add a password to the admin account before connecting the chassis to your network.
