Deploying the FortiGate-VMX Service Manager

  1. Using VMware's vSphere Web Client, right-click the virtual instance that you want to use and select Deploy OVF Template to open the OVF deployment wizard.

  2. Select Source
    1. Select Local File and browse to the FortiGate-VMX-Service-Manager.ovf file.

    2. Click Next.
  3. Review details
    1. Ensure that the information about the location of the OVF file is correct.

    2. Click Next.
  4. Accept Licence Agreements
    1. Read the EULA and click Accept.

    2. Click Next.
  5. Select name and folder
    1. Enter a name for the instance in the Name field.
    2. Select a location for this instance.

    3. Click Next.
  6. Select storage
    1. Select the virtual disk format from the drop down menu.
    2. Select the VM Storage policy from the drop down menu.
    3. Select the destination datastore from the list.

    4. Click Next.
  7. Setup networks
    1. Select a Management Network for the deployed template to use from the drop down menu. This is the network that the FortiGate-VMX Service Manager and the VMware components will use to communicate with each other as well as to connect to the FortiGate-VMX Server Manager Web Interface or other Management communications.
    2. Select an Agent Sync Network for the deployed template to use from the drop down menu. This is the network that will be used for all communications between the FortiGate-VMX Service Manager and FortiGate-VMX Security Node instances. It is recommended that this should be a closed network with only FortiGate-VMX components connected to it.

    3. Click Next.
  8. Ready to complete
    1. Review the settings to make sure they are correct.

    2. Click Finish.
