Deploying the FortiGate-VMX Service Manager

  1. Using VMware's vSphere Web Client, right-click the virtual instance that you want to use and select Deploy OVF Template to open the OVF deployment wizard.

  1. Select Source
  • Select Local File and browse to the FortiGate-VMX-Service-Manager.ovf file.
  • Click Next.
    1. Review details
    • Ensure that the information about the location of the OVF file is correct.
    • Click Next.
    1. Accept Licence Agreements
    • Read the EULA and click Accept.
    • Click Next.
    1. Select name and folder
  • Enter a name for the instance in the Name field.
  • Select a location for this instance.
  • Click Next.
    1. Select storage
  • Select the virtual disk format from the drop down menu.
  • Select the VM Storage policy from the drop down menu.
  • Select the destination datastore from the list.
  • Click Next.
    1. Setup networks
  • Select a Management Network for the deployed template to use from the drop down menu. This is the network that the FortiGate-VMX Service Manager and the VMware components will use to communicate with each other as well as to connect to the FortiGate-VMX Server Manager Web Interface or other Management communications.
  • Select an Agent Sync Network for the deployed template to use from the drop down menu.This is the network that will be used for all communications between the FortiGate-VMX Service Manager and FortiGate-VMX Security Node instances. It is recommended that this should be a closed network with only FortiGate-VMX components connected to it.
  • Click Next.
    1. Ready to complete
  • Review the settings to make sure they are correct.
  • Click Finish.
