Before you can connect to the FortiGate-VMX SVM web-based manager, you must configure a network interface in the FortiGate-VMX SVM console. You can accomplish this by using the console feature of VMware to connect to the VM in a terminal emulator mode.
- Set the management port IP address by entering the following in the CLI:
config system interface
set ip <IP address for the MGMT interface> <subnet mask>
set ip set allowaccess ping https ssh http
- Set the default gateway by entering the following in the CLI:
config router static
set device mgmt
set gateway <IP address of gateway>
- Set the DNS by entering the following in the CLI:
config system dns
set primary <IPv4 address of DNS server>
set secondary <IPv4 address of DNS server>
Once you have configured the management interface, you can connect through the web-based user interface to complete configuration. An additional reason to ensure the network settings are properly configured is that the FortiGate-VMX SVM requires Internet connectivity to validate its license against FDN. A regular FortiGate-VM can validate against a FortiManager, but FortiGate-VMX does not support this capability.
For more configuration, see the FortiGate-VMX Administration Guide.
