FortiWeb supports active-passive HA and active-active HA on AWS:
- Active-passive HA: Configure two FortiWeb-VM instances in a HA group synchronizing configuration and sessions. One instance runs as the primary/master, while the other runs as the secondary/slave. When the primary fails to operate, the secondary automatically promotes itself to the primary.
- Active-active HA: Use AWS Load Balancer to achieve active-active HA. Two FortiWeb-VMs can be deployed and registered within a Load Balancer, so that the traffic is balanced between the two. When system failure occurs on either one of the FortiWeb-VMs, the other one handles all the traffic.
We only support two FortiWeb-VMs in an HA group on AWS.
Please note that on public cloud platform, configurations are synchronized through FortiWeb's HA feature, but the traffic distribution among HA cluster members is achieved by the load balancer instead.
