Creating a FortiVoice-VM instance

Use this procedure to create a FortiVoice-VM instance using the Microsoft Azure portal. The Azure portal is a browser-based user interface used to create Azure resources.

Access the Microsoft Azure portal and create a FortiVoice-VM instance
  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Azure portal.
  2. Click the search box and type FortiVoice.
  3. From the Marketplace, select Fortinet FortiVoice Enterprise PBX.
  4. Click Create.
Configure the basics
  1. In the Basics tab, under Project details, configure the following settings:
    1. In Subscription, confirm that you have selected a valid subscription from the drop-down list.
    2. In Resource group, click Create New to create a new resource group.
    3. Note Do not select an existing resource group. Azure does not allow the deployment of resources into an existing resource group that is not empty.
  2. Under Instance details, configure the following settings:
    Note

    Make sure that the virtual machine name is unique in the current resource group.

    Do not include special characters.

    The length of the virtual machine name can be from 1 to 64 characters.

    1. In Virtual machine name, provide a name for your FortiVoice-VM instance.
    2. In Region, select a region.
    3. In Availability options, select an option applicable to your FortiVoice use case.
    4. In Image, make sure to select Fortinet FortiVoice-VM for Azure.
    5. In Azure Spot instance, make sure to select No.
    6. In Size, select a size capable of supporting your FortiVoice use case.

  3. Under Administration account, configure the following settings:
    1. In Authentication type, select Password.
    2. Note

      For the username, apply the following guidelines:

      • Use letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores. However, do not start a username with an hyphen or number.
      • Do not use admin.
      • Do not include reserved words.
      • Make sure that the username length is from 1 to 64 characters.
    3. In Username, type an administrator username for the VM.
    4. Note

      Make sure that the password includes at least three of the following character groups:

      • One lowercase character
      • One uppercase character
      • One number
      • One special character

      Make sure that the password length is from 12 to 72 characters.

    5. In Password, type the password and confirm the password to be associated with the username.

Attach an additional disk
  1. Click Next : Disks.
  2. Under Disk options, configure the following settings:
    1. In OS disk type, select Standard SSD or Premium SSD.
    2. In Encryption type, select the default.
  3. Under Data disks, click Create and attach a new disk.
    1. In Name, select the default or type a new name for the new disk.
    2. In Source type, make sure to select None (empty disk).
    3. In Size, select the default.
    4. In Encryption type, select the default.
    5. Click OK.

Define the network connectivity
  1. Click Next : Networking.
  2. Under Network interface, configure the following settings:
    1. In Virtual network, select the default or create a new virtual network.
    2. In Subnet, select the default available subnet.
    3. In Public IP, select the default IP address or create a new one.
    4. In Configure network security group, select the default security group or create a new one.
  3. Under Load balancing, for Place this virtual machine behind an existing load balancing solution?, you can select No.

Configure management options
  1. Click Next : Management.
  2. You can configure monitoring and management options for the FortiVoice-VM, as needed.
Configure advanced options
  1. Click Next : Advanced.
  2. If the image supports an advanced option, you can configure the option, as needed.
Add tags
  1. Click Next : Tags
  2. If you want to add tags to categorize your FortiVoice-VM instance, you can make changes.
Review and create your FortiVoice-VM
  1. Click Next : Review + create.
  2. Review the terms and information. Make changes, if required.
  3. When the validation is complete, click Create.

    The deployment of the FortiVoice-VM begins. The average time it takes for the deployment process to complete is 10 minutes.

    You have completed this procedure.

  4. Go to Connecting to FortiVoice.

Creating a FortiVoice-VM instance

  2. Click the search box and type FortiVoice.
  3. From the Marketplace, select Fortinet FortiVoice Enterprise PBX.
  4. Click Create.
