About the connector

IBM BigFix is a systems-management software product developed by IBM for managing large groups of computers running on Windows, Mac OS X, VMware ESX, Linux or UNIX, as well as various mobile operating systems such as Windows Phone, Symbian, iOS and Android. IBM BigFix provides system administrators with remote control, patch management, software distribution, operating system deployment, network access protection, and hardware and software inventory functionality.

This document provides information about the IBM BigFix connector, which facilitates automated interactions with IBM BigFix using FortiSOAR™ playbooks. Add the IBM BigFix connector as a step in FortiSOAR™ playbooks and perform automated operations, such as retrieving a list of sites and their types from IBM BigFix and retrieving a list of patches from the site you have specified.

Installing the connector

All connectors provided by FortiSOAR™ are delivered using a FortiSOAR™ repository. Therefore, you must set up your FortiSOAR™ repository and use the yum command to install connectors:

yum install cyops-connector-bigfix

Actions supported by the connector

The following automated operations can be included in playbooks and you can also use the annotations to access operations from FortiSOAR™ release 4.10.0 onwards:

Get Site List Retrieves a list of sites and their types from IBM BigFix.
Get Computer Groups List Retrieves a list of computer groups and their IDs in the specified site.
Get Patches List Retrieves a list of patches from the specified site.
Get Endpoints Retrieves a list of all endpoints(computers) and their last reported time.
Get Bigfix ID Retrieves a Bigfix ID from the hostname.

Included playbooks

The Sample - IBM BigFix - 1.0.0 playbook collection comes bundled with the Netskope connector. This playbook contains steps using which you can perform all supported actions. You can see the bundled playbooks in the Automation > Playbooks section in FortiSOAR™ after importing the Netskope connector.

Note: If you are planning to use any of the sample playbooks in your environment, ensure that you clone those playbooks and move them to a different collection, since the sample playbook collection gets deleted during connector upgrade and delete.
