CLI GUI Console

FortiSandbox provides the ability to log into the CLI console and issue commands in a window inside the Dashboard. You can issue commands to the CLI Console just like the FortiSandbox CLI.

To connect to the CLI GUI Console:

Locate the CLI GUI console by clicking the >__ icon located at the top right corner of the header bar:

  1. Click the Connect button to connect to the console. The console prompts you for your login information.
  2. You are now able to issue commands to the CLI Console just like the FortiSandbox CLI. For more information on FortiSandbox CLI commands, see the FortiSandbox CLI Reference Guide in the Fortinet Document Library.
  3. Once you have completed work in the console, disconnect the console by using one of the following methods:
  4. After connecting to FortiSandbox console, the Connect button will read Disconnect. This will disconnect from the console. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+C to disconnect.

This widget contains the following buttons:

Connect/Disconnect

Toggles the connection to the console

Clears the console

Downloads the contents of the console

Copies the contents of the console to the clipboard

Expands and detaches the console from the GUI and opens it in a new browser tab

Closes the CLI Console

To clear the console output:

You can clear the console output by clicking any time. The cursor will return to the top of the window.

To save the console output:

There are two ways to save the current console outputs:

  • You can click to export the current console output to a text file “cliConsole.txt” on your local PC. The maximum number of downloaded lines is 1000.
  • You can click to copy the console output then paste the content to a word editor. The maximum number of copied lines is 1000.
To expand the console window:

You can click any time and the FortiSandbox will open a new browser tab for a full screen console window.

If the detached window is opened, the original small console window will be auto-hidden.

To close the console window:

When you click , FortiSandbox will close the console window.

  • The GUI console can only connect to a local FortiSandbox.
  • The FortiSandbox does not currently support HA cluster mode to open a slave FortiSandbox GUI console from the master.
