Create FortiCloud users from FortiMonitor

Create FortiCloud users from FortiMonitor

You must be logged into FortiMonitor using FortiCloud to be able to create FortiCloud users from FortiMonitor.

Note: This method is only for FortiMonitor accounts created on September 15, 2024 or later. For accounts created prior to September 15, 2024, see Add users to your account.

To add a new user to your account, perform the following steps:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Teams & Activity> Users, Groups & On-Call.

  2. Click Add then Add User .

  3. Enter the user's email address.

  4. Select the User Type.

    1. Alerting Only - User only receives notifications. Proceed to Add an Alert Only user.

    2. Control Panel Access - User can log in and access the control panel. Further access refinements for those with Control Panel Access can be made in the ACL Roles section below.

  5. After selecting Control Panel Access, click Continue to FortiCloud.

  6. Create a FortiCloud user by following the steps detailed in this page .

  7. After creating a FortiCloud user, go back to the main FortiCloud page.

  8. Go back to FortiMonitor by clicking FortiMonitor from the FortiCloud Services menu.

  9. From the FortiMonitor control panel, go to Teams & Activity > Users, Groups & On-Call.

  10. Click the Sync Fortinet Users button. This will add the created users to FortiMonitor.
    Note: A discovery process is ran nightly to sync users created in FortiCloud to FortiMonitor. Use the Sync Fortinet Users button if you want to sync the created users immediately.

  11. Users created in FortiCloud will have the No Access ACL role enabled by default. An Administrator must set the permissions in FortiMonitor. For more information, see Access control.

Add an Alert Only user

Alert Only users are restricted users that are only allowed to receive alerts.

To create an Alert Only user, perform the following steps:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Teams & Activity> Users, Groups & On-Call.

  2. Click Add then Add User .

  3. Enter the user's email address.

  4. Select Alerting Only.

  5. Enter the required information.
  6. Field

    Description

    Name

    The user's name, as it will appear throughout the control panel and in communications.

    Timezone

    The user's timezone. All displayed and computed times are adjusted for the user (this does not affect other users on the account).

    Avatar

    The user's avatar.

    Alerting

    The Alerting pane allows you to add various contact methods for the user, which are then later used in Alert Timelines. However, only email is required. You can also add labels (optional) to each contact information.

  7. For each email address and phone number provider, you can set which alert types that specific contact method receives.
  8. Select Save. The new user is added to your FortiMonitor account. Note that this user will only exist in the region where it was created.
