Bandwidth (Linux)
The Bandwidth plugin is one of the Agent’s most basic features, it collects the bandwidth either going in or out of your server. If you haven't read Add a monitoring agent resource yet, do that first.
Control Panel Configuration
First select Linux from the monitoring catalog, then scroll to bandwidth.
Then you should select the type of bandwidth data you would like collected from the list and the interface you would like to monitor.
Metric |
Unit |
---|---|
Kilobytes IN for the month |
KB |
Kilobytes IN per second |
KB |
Kilobytes OUT for the month |
KB |
Kilobytes OUT per second |
KB |
Packets IN per second |

Packets OUT per second |

You can also change the frequency at which this data is taken. The specific number that this resource returns is defined by the above options, please take this into account if you choose to change your alert threshold for this resource.
You can collect multiple bandwidth metrics if you would like, it is actually quite common to do so especially if your server has multiple devices.
If you would like to inspect the Bandwidth plugin in more detail you can find the python script for it in /usr/lib/panopta-agent/plugins/bandwidth.py.
