Kubernetes Container Counter

The Kubernetes Container Counter widget displays the number of Kubernetes containers in your infrastructure, based on how the widget is configured. You can filter which containers are included based on its container state, termination reason, or wait reason.

Example

The widget shows the total number of running Kubernetes containers in your infrastructure.

Configuration

When creating or editing a widget, a drawer that shows the widget's configuration options slides out from the right. Each configurable option is described in the following table.

Field

Description

Widget name

Name of the widget as it appears on the dashboard.

This field shows the default name of the widget. Select the pen icon to rename the widget.

Instances

Filter instances by the following:

  • No filter

  • Tags

  • Group

  • Name

Dashboard Scoping Adherence

Enabling this option will allow you to bypass Dashboard-level scoping.

Counter Type

Container State

The state of each container inside a Pod. Containers with the selected State will be included in the count displayed on the widget.

  • Waiting

  • Running

  • Terminated

Container Wait Reason

The reason for a container’s wait status. Containers with the selected ContainerWait Reason will be included in the count displayed on the widget.

  • Container Creating

  • Crash Loop Back Off

  • Image Pull Error

  • Image Pull Back Off

  • Create Container Config Error

  • Invalid Image Name

  • Create Container Error

Container Termination Reason

The reason for a container’s termination status. Containers with the selected Container Termination Reason will be included in the count displayed on the widget.

  • OOM Killed

  • Error

  • Completed

  • Container Cannot Run
