Although it relies on on-premises software components for data collection, FortiMonitor is principally a cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) product. Access to that information analyzed in the cloud is via a web based user interface (WebUI) using a browser. This document addresses compatibility and known issues with the more popular browsers.
Major browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge, Opera, and Android are updated at a fast pace, and as a result, it is not feasible to test all features of the FortiMonitor interface against all versions of the major browsers.
FortiMonitor development has focused on ensuring a positive experience on large high-resolution screens with the most popular browsers, particularly Chrome and Firefox. These two browsers are available for most platforms.
Chrome uses Google's Blink browser engine. As of Chrome version 88.0 as deployed on MacOSX and Windows, there are no known issues running the FortiMonitor WebUI with Chrome. Other browsers which use the Blink engine and which should therefore offer a similar rendering of web content include Microsoft Edge and Opera.
Firefox uses Mozilla's Gecko browser engine. As of Firefox version 85.0 as deployed on MacOSX and Windows, there are no known issues running FortiMonitor WebUI with Firefox.
Safari uses Apple's WebKit browser engine. As of Safari version 14.0 as deployed on MacOSX, there are no known issues running FortiMonitor WebUI with Safari. However, the engine and browser are not extensively tested for compatibility with FortiMonitor.
Internet Explorer uses Microsoft's Trident browser engine. Development of this engine has been discontinued, and Microsoft is promoting Edge in place of IE. However, IE is still found on many versions of Windows.
As of IE version 11 as deployed on Windows 10 and Windows 2019 Server, there is a known issue with the handling of HTML5 local storage. This affects some FortiMonitor dashboards and visualizations, causing them to fail to load. If this happens, enable the Allow website caches and databases option. To do this, perform the following steps:
Click the gear icon then click Internet options.
Click Settings under Browsing history.
In the Website Data Settings window, click the Caches and databases tab.
Enable Allow website caches and databases
